Greetings, offseason readers! Believe it or not, there’s actually a lot going on in the Hamptons this time of year, including holiday markets (pictured above). Because Christmas. Even Whalebone magazine (locally produced in Montauk) is getting into the holidays, ending this rather poignant tribute to the offseason with a shameless plug for sherpa hoodies (!). Because media broken. Ah well. We hold out hope for Axios. But we digress. And also, we kinda like the sherpa hoodies. Christmas!

Speaking of sherpa hoodies…

If are you in need of something handknit, handcarved, handpainted (you get the idea), then head directly to Ashawagh Hall this Saturday in Good Ole Springs for the 6th Annual Friends Bazaar — one day only, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “See old friends, have some cider, look around,” says organizer Jamie Lerner. Indeed, why not….

Quick takes…

  • The Southampton Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual holiday celebration tonight at Union Cantina…
  • Tavern Thursdays are BACK at the 1770 House, or more specifically, the casual/cheaper downstairs (the only part we ever see, personally) of the 1770 House, a former 18th century colonial home in East Hampton. There is burger, meatloaf and Korean BBQ Berkshire Ribs. Yum.
  • The deadline to apply for Guild Hall of East Hampton’s Artist-in-Residence program is TODAY. Details here. Make it count.

On tap for the weekend…

  • Oil takes way longer to dry than watercolor, people. So respect the artists and stop by the “Oil Works” art show at Amagansett Library, which begins tonight for the entire month of December. Featured artists are Kirsten Benfield, Johanna Caleca, Marilyn Goldstein, Kathie Hayden and Peggy Sherrill  An opening reception will be held Friday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. As always, we hope wine and cheese are involved…
  • But will the dowager be there? St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Bridgehampton will host its annual fair this Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., sponsored by the Bridgehampton Association…
  • Need a wreath? Stop by the Amagansett firehouse this Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and pick one up, with proceeds benefitting the Ladies Auxillary. We didn’t realize Ladies Auxillaries were still a thing, but whatevs…

Social Media Quote of the Day

“When the whites are gone and it’s time for #oldworldwine,” Wainscott Main Wine & Spirits, letting us know via this Facebook photo that it’s officially red wine weather. Nothing wrong with a good Bordeaux.
