#TGIF. And what a week it’s been. We’ve been busy working with the Trump transition team, offering guidance for January (such as, “Stay rational near the nuclear codes, dammit” and other handy tips). The Hampton Bee, of course, doesn’t take a political position, which is why we direct you instead to The East Hampton Star’s Opinion page, whose post-election OpEd memorably contains the phrase “embarrassing second-stringers.” One thing we do know: It would be near impossible, these days, for many East End businesses to function without immigrant labor. A brief reminder: Trump wants to build a wall. Folks with questions/concerns can contact the Latino Advisory Committee (of East Hampton) or the Organización Latino-Americana of Eastern Long Island  — though it’s doubtful anyone will have any immediate answers.

So. How do we make the world a better place again?

Children are our future, people. Teach them well and let them….well, you know the rest. Ross School, which elected its 6th grade student government this week in a protest-free affair, is hosting an open house today, at both the lower and upper schools. Details here. We think students must be smart, judging from this school logo, which is far more sophisticated than, say, the Hampton Bee’s logo. And a final reminder from Whitney, let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be…a few days ago.

Quick takes

On tap for the weekend…

Social Media Quote of the Day

“The sun came up, life is still beautiful, let’s move on.” — Pierre’s restaurant in Bridgehampton, the day after Election Day, in this Instagram post. At the very least, now would be a good time to enjoy some comfort eating.
