Happy Friday! So in breaking eye-candy news, The White Room gallery in Bridgehampton officially opens this weekend. (See photo of the main space above…so pretty, so white!) The grand opening party is scheduled for Saturday, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., featuring contemporary artists Eric Ernst, Sally Breen and Jim Gingerich, and live music by Mamalee Rose & Friends, which is a 6-piece band (!) from East Hampton. Presumably the musicians are setting up outside, as they might knock over a sculpture or two if squeezing into the space.
The new gallery, at 2415 Main Street (across from the Golden Pear) in Bridge, is run by the folks who formerly brought you the Crazy Monkey gallery in Amagansett. Founding partners are Andrea McCafferty, who serves as director, and Breen and Daniel Schoenheimer.
Speaking of new spaces…
Gurney’s, everybody’s favorite spa in Montauk, has been renovating one of its dining spaces. Here’s a sneak peek of the new look, from Gurney’s Facebook page. That banquette with ocean views looks like a nice perch.
Now if only I could find me some French loafers
Our friends at CurbedHamptons report that buying luxury shoes on the beach will be getting easier this summer. And to that we say, Phew! A new brand called Galet will be selling French loafers from a Euro-style pop-up: A vintage 1940s Citröen H-Van. The van will begin touring the Hamptons from Memorial Day until end of summer. Shoes range from $295 to $395. We never thought we’d say this, but could someone bring back the recession, please? This is out of control.
Rowdy Hall to re-open
Yay, some redeeming news: Rowdy Hall, the restaurant/bar that suffered damage after a late-April blaze, will re-open today at noon. “A huge thank you to all of the first responders, the crews for working so hard and so fast, to our team and to all you for your support,” Rowdy Hall said on its Facebook page. “Now, c’mon summer!”
