Weekend Bee: Distractions, Please. We’ve Got Seascapes, Coloring Books & Honeybells

(Want to get the Daily Bee delivered to your Inbox? Sign up here.)

Happy Friday! Ah, nothing like soothing seascapes to provide pleasant distraction. In the event you might need a heavy dose, head to the new pop-up gallery ArtUnprimed in Sag Harbor, pictured above, which is featuring all local artists in its first show, “Water.” (Those seascapes are by Bruce Lieberman of Water Mill.) Owner Casey Dalene is occupying the 7 Main Street space — a.k.a. the Addo boutique during the season — through March 19. She also plans two more shows: Women (Feb. 11)  and Terra (March 4).

If soothing seascapes aren’t enough of a distraction (today or anytime over the next four years), might we suggest stopping by Grindstone Coffee & Donuts in Sag Harbor — conveniently right next door to the pop-up gallery — where you can sob over some Nutella-frosted fried goodness. We also recommend the blueberry crumble donuts, which we tried because we take our job very, very seriously.

Must love shitaakes. Some crimini experience a plus.

Speaking of jobs, we just figured out what we’re going to do when we grow up. Open Minded Organics, the Bridgehampton produce company, is looking to hire a few good mushroom producers/farm hands. If you know your portabellas from your porcinis, click here for details. Fungi-haters need not apply.

Now if only I had a box of 64 crayons…

Illustrator Durell Godfrey of East Hampton Star fame is publishing a new adult coloring book (not as kinky as it sounds) called “Color Your Happy Home.” This time, Godfrey, who previously published “Color Me Cluttered,” is collaborating with author Barbara Ann Kipfer of 14,000 Things to Be Happy About. Yes, you can buy the coloring book online, but we suggest patronizing your local indie book store….in fact, attend Godfrey’s Feb. 4 book signing at Book Hampton in East Hampton. We suggest, after today, staying away from the color orange

On tap for the weekend…

  • Inn Spot on the Bay, the Hamptons restaurant that livens up winter by offering a different international menu each weekend, is going FRENCH this weekend. Menu here. Oui, oui…
  • It is “smokin’ hot tunes” night (tonight!) at Townline BBQ in Sagaponack, featuring Mamalee Rose (musical act) and more $8 fresh lime margaritas then you know what to do with (pre-hangover act). There are also warm pretzels with mustard, which seems rather arbitrary, but whatevs…
  • Le Charlot restaurant in Southampton is participating in Restaurant Week, starting Sunday (thru the following Sunday) with a 3-course prix-fixe meal for $27.95…

Social Media Quote of the Day

“Oh hallelujah it’s Honeybells season.” — Sarah Jessica Parker, sometimes Amagansett resident, in this Instagram photo. This is the good kind of orange.
